The way you cook on and care for your griddle can influence factors like rust-resistance and lifespan. Basic griddle care can be accomplished through quick, simple steps.
Before you cook on your griddle, wipe a very thin layer of any cooking oil on it. This will help activate your seasoning to prevent food from sticking. Additionally, cooking with oils and fats helps add to your seasoning. This keeps your griddle more non-stick and rust-resistant.
After you’re done cooking and you’ve scraped and cleaned your griddle, add a very thin layer of Seasoning & Conditioner or cooking oil to your griddle top while cool and spread it around with a paper towel or cotton cloth. This will protect it from the elements and prep it for your next cook.
If any grease or debris got onto your cooking station's body during cooking, make sure to clean those off before putting your griddle away. This will help protect your powder coat. You can clean your main body with a mild detergent and a non-abrasive cloth, or our degreaser cleaner.
Finally, make sure to store your griddle properly. If your griddle doesn't have a rotating hood, we recommend pairing a hard cover and soft cover to optimally protect your griddle top and body. Additionally, if you are using a soft cover on a griddle without a rotating hood, make sure to tent the cover in the center so water can run off of it.
