If you would like to store your griddle for an extend period of time, or through the winter, there are several step you can take to help prevent rust and limit ware on the griddle surface.
Clean off your griddle's main body assembly from any built-up grease or debris with a mild soap or our degreaser cleaner and a non-abrasive rag. This will help your powder coat last longer.
Clean your griddle top and empty out your grease cup. This will help deter pests and mold.
Add an extra oil layer after cleaning. This additional layer of oil will help your seasoning layers stay intact. Adding additional oil throughout storage will continue to help prevent your seasoning from drying out and peeling.
Use a griddle cover. We make both soft and hard covers for our unhooded units. If you do not have a hood or a hard cover on your griddle, but will be using a soft cover, then we would recommend using an object to tent the soft cover. This will help water run off the cover and avoid the vinyl from getting stuck on the griddle plate.
If you are in an extra humid or particular harsh winter environment consider pulling the griddle or cooking surface inside a sheltered area, such as a garage.
When it comes to storing your propane tank, make sure the tank is closed and disconnected from your griddle. Never store propane in an area connected to your home or in a living area. Instead, keep it upright on a sturdy surface on the ground in a well-ventilated area clear of electrical tools or materials that are flammable or combustible.
